Talking robots take control of Kinshasa’s traffic problems

In Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, two eight-foot robots have taken over traffic directing duties from their human counterparts.  Its makers are already anticipating expansion to the rest of the world.

Wouldn’t traffic lights (with optional video cameras) be more efficient and cost-effective? It’s always cool to see a robot in action, but why mess with the already proven traffic light system?
